Four rows of bleachers filled with fans dressed in blue, illuminated by the bright lights on the turf. This was the scene of the girls home opener on September 3rd as they took on Milford.
The Bobcats have started the season strong, now 4-1-1. They tied ConVal 1-1, defeated Milford at home in front of a large crowd, travelled a long way to defeat Kennet 2-0, then Lebanon 2-0 at home. They fell to a strong Coe-Brown team 3-2 and most recently defeated Kingswood on the road 1-0.
The Girls Soccer team face off against Bow today on the Falcons’ home turf.
In the first game of the season the Bobcats defeated the Milford Spartans 1-0, and the student section was a contributing factor in uplifting the girl’s energy on the field.

Fan Rose Goldsmith (‘25) noticed the energy uplifting the Bobcats throughout the game. “We [the student section] were very high energy and did a lot of chants. I think it helped them. When they’d get close to a goal, we’d get excited, and I could see that giving the girls energy.”
Defender Parker Keeler agrees that the fans were giving the Bobcats an advantage, “I think the atmosphere that we were in as well as the fans were a driving factor that helped us.”
When asked if the student section makes a difference Keeler says, “Yes 100% it makes such a difference, even if there aren’t a lot of people there, because you want to show up and be the best version of yourself while they’re there. When people are there, it means more because they have seen the work that we’ve put in.”
When the Bobcats faced off against Milford on 9/3, there was a notable fan presence.
As the game kicked off Milford was heavy on their attack, but they were no match for the Bobcat’s defensive line. “Parker Keeler, Katie Robinson, Gracie Royal and Aliza Parks play really well together, and I really appreciate it because it made my job easy,” says Goalkeeper Caitlin Klein (‘25). Klein had a shutout, and her quick drop kicks led to many counterattack opportunities for the Bobcats.

The game was tied at 0-0 going into halftime, but as the second half progressed the energy from the student section increased, the fans doing their best to cheer on the girls.
With just over 20 minutes left in the game, Striker Lindsey Morin (‘25) found the back of the net off a corner kick from Sophie Elsemore (‘26). The crowd only got louder from here, cheering on the girls as they finished out the half. The Bobcats held on and secured the win in front of a home crowd.
Klien also thinks that the student section was a contributing factor, “They definitely gave us a lot of energy, in our last game we were away at ConVal, and the energy was very low [the student section] made a huge difference today.”
Despite having a good turnout, it could be better, “For the first game of the season, I thought it was all right, and everyone there was supporting the spirit theme. I would like to see more underclassmen though,” says Goldsmith. The majority of fans at most sporting events so far have been upperclassmen, but as an underclassman it can still be very fun to go to games. You get to dress up with the themes, join in on chants, and just be there to support your peers. Underclassmen are always welcome, the louder the fan section can be the better!
They come back to their home field on Tuesday 9/24 and face off against the Hollis-Brookline Cavaliers. Be sure to pack the bleachers to see the work the girls have been putting in!
