Thursday, September 29th was Superhero day for Spirit Week at Oyster River High School. The theme wasn’t as popular as the first three this week (class colors, America, twins/squad), but there were still a number of elaborate costumes that didn’t fail to impress. Preliminary numbers report fewer people participated than Twin day. America day seems to have been the most popular so far.
A popular theme among boys was wearing short-shorts with tights under, which caused some dispute over the dress code. Superhero onesies were also quite popular, along with a variety of accessories like shields and swords. Head and face decorations were also fairly popular, most commonly half-masks, but some went above and beyond with face paint and/or full masks.
The most popular superhero around school was Superman, closely followed by Batman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, and Captain America. Thor, Hulk, The Flash, Green Lantern and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were also spotted.
