Oyster River Playoffs

Of the five varsity teams who began their playoff season over the past week, boys’ and girls’ soccer, as well as volleyball have finished their seasons. Unified soccer and the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams have more to come.

The girls’ and boys’ varsity cross country teams competed in the Division 2 state meet this past Saturday the 27th at the Derryfield Park in Manchester. The girls’ team finished 4th overall and the boys finished 2nd; both teams qualified for the Meet of Champions and will compete this coming Sunday, November 4th in Nashua.

The unified soccer team won their quarterfinal game against Gilford, 5-1. They will play in the semifinals Thursday, November 1st in Conval at 4pm; if they win against Conval they will continue to the championship.

The varsity girls’ soccer team had a strong start to the postseason when they won their preliminary game against Conval 3-0 this past Thursday, October 25th. However, it was followed by a disappointing ending when the team lost to Hanover 1-0 in penalty kicks during the quarterfinal game.

The varsity boys’ soccer team made a valiant final stand in the quarterfinal game, Sunday, October 28th, where they were eventually defeated by Bow, 2-1 in a hard-fought game.

The girls’ varsity volleyball team won their quarterfinal game 3-1 against Souhegan. They later fell to Milford, each having won two sets going into the 5th, where they were upset in the final plays of the game.
